JOHANNESBURG

DESIGNER

Johannesburg native designer Ryan Keys is featured in this episode of Inside Fashion Week South Africa. With the people's increasing appetite for fashion in South Africa, Keys has designed and created his own pieces to show the world that South Africa is a growing hot spot for fashion. His inspiration this season is all about love. Keys usually focuses on a more harsher perspective but this season he decided to so a more delicate and sweet approach to his designs. His Spring/Summer collection exudes beauty and grace as models walk down the runway in lace, glitter, tulle, sequins.

COLOR

One of South Africa's most prominent designers for over 30 years of his career, JJ Schoeman brings to Fashion Week his beautiful designs all in one color: White. He commented that having a collection in one color only makes it stronger and more fierce. His designs for this season were feminine yet simple and the white will surely make any woman feel beautiful and stand out from the crowd.

SOUTH AFRICAN HERITAGE

Designer Thando Mangaliso and his brand Sun Goddess is quintessentially South African inspired. A luxury lifestyle clothing line, Sun Goddess ties in African handmade designs and bead work with eccentric color. This luxury South African brand prides itself for its handmade designs. People expect them to take their time creating timeless pieces, nothing is rushed, perfection takes time. The brand is known for its patterns and use of combined textures such as leather and chiffon.

MENSWEAR

The designs from Naked Ape showcase ready to wear garments and accessories for men. The colors usually used are more neutral tones, but in this Fashion Week, the collection showed bright colors and whites giving it extra impact to the audience. The menswear designs are also usually flooded with pattern and prints on the fabric but this time around, there were only hints of patterns giving room for the eccentric colors and styles of the collection to shine through.
