MAKEUP

First stop, makeup! Our first encounter is with the makeup artists for Tadashi Shouji’s Fall/Winter 2016. The idea for his models was a take on copper mining. Using Copper Sparkle Mac Pigment by MAC cosmetics. It's just like the “smoky, messy dark eye and sinking in the copper sparkle” with a synthetic brush. Our second encounter was with the makeup squad for Desigual. They focused on re creating the smokey eye using a red glossy terracotta eyes. No mascara but there is eyeliner.

The designer lineup is everything and more. Diverse, cool, fun, and elegant, here are some of the many faces for this year's New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2016: Herve Leger, taking a different approach to his collection with a more edgier look. Jeremy Scott, eccentric and fun, his collections always leave a lasting impression. Carmen Marc Valvo, his collection gives new meaning to dark hues for fall and winter.

TREND

This season, designers showed an interest in a more….tougher and edgier look. Herve Leger is associated with glamour and sensuality, with his usual unforgettable looks. This time, the designer gave the look a little more edge with punk rock style, giving women a more tougher look. Tadashi Shoji also brought in rock and roll inspired wear, with tattoo designs (without having to get tattoos done!). He wanted to capture a more young and cool audience for this seasons collection.

INSPIRATION

Of course, designers can’t really design without having a source of inspiration. Nicole Miller’s F/W ‘16 collection can attest to that. She finds Fall collections sad and wanted to change it up a little by incorporating beading and color. Her collection was heavily inspired Nordic and French folklore using flower beading and folk prints for her designs.

COLOR

Dark colors don’t necessarily mean dreary.Fall can be filled with dark hues and neutrals, making the winter months a more elegant affair. Carmen Marc Valvo’s Fall/Winter 2016 exudes elegance with his choice of color schemes. With an art nouveau inspired clothing collection using black, bold, and caviar neutral colors, he chose to combine laces with brocades. Valco used simple fabrics for a ready to wear outfit that you can either dress up or keep it simple.
